Is This the Right Brace for Me?
The thumb has three joints. The middle one, or “metacarpophalangeal” (MP / MCP) joint, is near the thumb web space. This joint is often injured while skiing or playing other sports. The Push Sports Thumb Brace is designed to support this joint.
The CMC (or “carpometacarpal”) joint is near the wrist. Because of its location, many people don’t even think of it as a thumb joint. Osteoarthritis is a common issue at the CMC joint and it is best supported by the Push MetaGrip brace.

How to ApplyFirst, open the three straps. Apply the thumb cap—the thick, reinforced part of the brace—on the top of the thumb, with the upper edge at the crease of the joint below the thumbnail. Fasten the short thumb strap snugly at a slight downward angle. | The first time you apply the brace, squeeze the thumb cap so it snugly fits your thumb and retighten the strap. | Bring the brace around your hand, pulling on the elastic material at the base of the long strap—NOT THE LONG STRAP ITSELF. | Look for the single blue stitched line on the elastic material and fasten it close to the single blue stitched line on the base of the thumb cap. The brace should feel snug. |
| Close the wrist strap without tension. | Look for the double stitched blue lines on the non-elastic long strap and on the thumb cap. Wrap this long strap between the thumb and index finger and around the thumb and back to the top. | Fasten the double blue lines on the strap as close as possible to the double lines on the thumb cap. BE SURE TO FASTEN THIS STRAP AS FAR OUT ON THE BRACE AS POSSIBLE. | Fasten the yellow tab on the back of the hand. For maximum protection, bring your thumb toward your index finger while snugly fastening the yellow tab and this will protect your thumb joint more. |
